MCUrgent is used for emergencies where the impact crosses municipal boundaries. MCUrgent messages are intended to be specific. Readiness or "what do to if..." messages are sent to the county's general social media sites (Twitter.com/MorrisCountyNJ or Facebook.com/MorrisCountyNJ), not MCUrgent. MCUrgent information is:

- originates from the source
- accessible even without power
- available 24/7
- device independent
- across municipal boundaries
- freely available (no subscription or membership required)
- accessible anywhere
